📅 Sat, Nov 7, 2026 - Sun, Nov 8, 2026
About this event
Held at a small art museum and cafe in Yoshioka-juku, Taiwa Town, Miyagi Prefecture, the "Yoshioka-juku Nisipirica Film Festival" is an event aiming to be a place to learn about diverse ways of living through film and engage in local dialogue. Held nearly every year since 2016, in 2026 it will take place across two days on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8. Four films will be screened: "Women's Holiday," "Women of Kurokawa," "At the Intersection of Sankakuya," and "Radio Shimokanjiro." Following each screening, talk sessions are scheduled with guests such as Mika Higashida, Aya Furuhashi, Director Toru Yamada, and Director Haruka Komori. In particular, "Women's Holiday" will feature Japanese subtitles, while "Women of Kurokawa," "At the Intersection of Sankakuya," and "Radio Shimokanjiro" will include barrier-free Japanese subtitles. Sign language interpretation for the talk events is also provided upon request, making the event welcoming and accessible to all. This film festival values learning about things previously unknown and discussing them together.
