About this event
To commemorate its 73rd anniversary, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Camp Fukushima will hold anniversary commemorative events on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, 2026. On the first day, Saturday, September 12, the "Machinaka Festa" will take place at Fukushima City Machinaka Square, and a "City Parade" will be held on Fukushima Station Front Street. The City Parade will feature a march led mainly by the 44th Infantry Regiment and a drill performance by the Camp Fukushima Fancy Drill Team. At the Machinaka Festa, visitors can enjoy equipment exhibitions, musical performances by the 6th Band, and JGSDF experience booths. On the second day, Sunday, September 13, Camp Fukushima will be open to the public, featuring a commemorative ceremony, training demonstrations, equipment exhibitions, and experiential rides. The commemorative ceremony is scheduled to include an inspection ceremony, an inspection parade, a band performance, a fancy drill performance, and a training demonstration. In addition, a variety of attractions are prepared inside the camp, including a music concert, fancy drill performances, a kids' plaza, opening of the Defense Museum, an art exhibition, barracks tours, and outdoor stalls, allowing visitors to experience the activities of the Self-Defense Forces throughout the day.
