Otaru Ushio Daiko 60th Anniversary Festival

Supported by the local community, the Otaru Ushio Daiko Preservation Society celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The commemorative event "Otaru Ushio Daiko 60th Anniversary Festival" celebrating this milestone will be held at Otaru Sun Mall Ichibangai. Celebrating the 60th anniversary alongside the Ushio Matsuri as a collaboration of artistry and style, performers will include the Otaru Ushio Daiko Preservation Society, Wakashio-tai, and Hamanasu-tai / Oya-tai. In addition, regional taiko preservation groups such as Otaru Taiko-shu Kokyo, Akaigawa Village Caldera Taiko Preservation Society, Hokkai Soran Taiko Preservation Society, and Kutchan Yotei Daiko Preservation Society Koryu, as well as various traditional performing arts groups and dance teams including OTARU Breakin’ School AL, Otaru Matsumae Kagura Preservation Society, Parties, Takashima Echigo Odori Preservation Society, Esashi Mochitsuki Bayashi, and Poifull HOORAY, will perform and enliven the venue with powerful taiko drumming and performances. Since its inception in 1966, walking hand in hand with the city of Otaru and bringing emotion to many citizens and tourists, this will be a special day where the 60-year history of Otaru Ushio Daiko resonates.
