About this event

The "Minato Hassaku Festival" is a historic traditional festival selected as one of Ibaraki's "Festivals of Ibaraki: Passing On, Connecting, and Expanding". At the "YOI Festival", which is held in years when the main festival is not held, the Nakaminato Honcho-dori Shopping Street becomes a pedestrian paradise, and various events highlighting local characteristics are held. There are plenty of events that can be enjoyed across generations, such as citizen-participatory float operations, musical accompaniment (ohayashi) hands-on workshops for children, float parades by each neighborhood, and taiko drumming performances by local nursery school children. The tagline "Unfading thoughts, a connecting festival." reflects the executive committee's wish to keep the passion for the festival alive and strengthen the bonds of local people even in years when the main festival is not held.
