About this event

"Gunma Watarase Valley SEA TO SUMMIT" is an eco-sports event themed on the coexistence of people and nature, held for the first time in Midori City, Gunma Prefecture, on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026. The event aims to let participants experience the cycles of nature through outdoor sports and reflect on the irreplaceable natural environment. On the first day, an environmental symposium with the theme of "Coexistence of People, Society, and Nature" will be held, featuring a special talk between Montbell Group CEO Isamu Tatsuno and Midori City Mayor Akio Sudo. On the second day, activities will take participants from Lake Kusaki, located in the upper reaches of the pristine Watarase River, toward Komaruyama in the autumn-foliage-colored Kesamaruyama mountain range. The activities consist of three disciplines: canoeing, biking (cycling), and hiking (mountaineering), featuring non-competitive participation where the goal is simply to finish. Participants can choose between two finish points according to their physical condition and stamina. As the first event of its kind in the Kanto region, capacity is limited to 300 participants to minimize environmental impact and maintain thorough safety management. Registration opens on Monday, August 24, 2026, and closes on Thursday, September 24.
