About this event
The 2026 Asahikawa Half Marathon is a premier sports event representing Asahikawa City. Renewed in 2024 with a new course that starts and finishes around the Dohoku Arcs Taisetsu Arena, the course setting allows participants to enjoy scenic views showcasing Asahikawa's character as a city of rivers. In this event that tours areas such as the Kitasaito area, in addition to the half marathon, 10 km and 2 km (including Family Run) categories are prepared, allowing participants to choose according to their physical fitness. The half marathon, which is applying for official course certification by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF), has detailed age categories divided by men and women for high school students and older. The 10 km course similarly has age categories. For the 2 km course, junior high school students and younger, 1st through 6th grade elementary school students, and for the Family Run, those aged 3 and older can participate. If preschoolers participate in the Family Run, an accompanying guardian is required. The start time of the race is 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 27. The entry application period is from April 1 to July 26, 2026.
