About this event

As Japan's only High Mountain Race held in alpine areas around 2,000 meters in elevation, the 'Joshu Hotakasan Skyview Trail' focuses on the 'mountain experience' rather than distance, featuring a demanding course that requires authentic mountaineering judgment and experience with ridgelines, the tree line, and alpine weather. There are two categories, HOTAKA (138 km) and TONE (77 km), each offering a different mountain experience. HOTAKA is the flagship division crossing ridgelines through the night, aiming for a more authentic alpine experience. TONE condenses the charm of Mt. Hotaka and is positioned as an introductory category where participants can enjoy a balanced mix of challenge and stunning scenery. Participants will take on a true mountain experience where not only their physical stamina, but also their judgment and self-reliance will be tested. Detailed information regarding participation requirements and mandatory equipment is provided for the event, which is operated according to safety standards. Volunteers are also being recruited to support the event. Comprehensive information regarding access and accommodation is also available to assist with preparations for heading to the mountains.
