About this event
Set at the Saitama Kofun Cluster in Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture, this event offers an experience to create 'haniwa' clay figures in the Reiwa era. Participants make their own one-of-a-kind original haniwa by hand from scratch. You can choose from two types of haniwa-making experiences: the 'Authentic Experience,' which uses authentic clay and fires it in the facility's kiln, and the 'Terracotta Experience,' which allows you to easily complete and take it home on the spot. As local gourmet food associated with Gyoda City, the event also provides vouchers for the 'Gyoda Ancient Rice Curry Bento,' shaped like a keyhole-shaped burial mound, and 'Wataboku Soft Serve,' familiar to Saitama residents. The event is designed for children and adults alike to fully enjoy ancient romance and the joy of craftsmanship. In the Authentic Experience, the created haniwa will be delivered to your home or picked up at a later date. In the Terracotta Experience, you need to prepare your own bag or box to take it home. The event is divided into morning and afternoon sessions, each scheduled with reception time, haniwa making, and lunch. The Ancient Rice Curry, which is sold exclusively at the Sakitama Terrace Tourism and Specialty Goods Center in Sakitama Kofun Park, will be provided as a bento box for the event. Wataboku Soft Serve is a refreshing yet rich soft-serve ice cream co-developed with local Mori Dairy, available in flavors such as milk, coffee, and mix. The event venue, the Saitama Kofun Cluster, is designated as a National Special Historic Site, and you can enjoy spending the whole day exploring spots like Haniwa House, Sakitama Terrace Tourism and Specialty Goods Center, and Sakitama Museum of Ancient Tomb Relics.
