About this event
The Autumn Grand Festival 'Shito Goma Fire Walking Ceremony' is a traditional event that has been held for over 160 years. On the day of the event, a Grand Goma service is solemnly conducted at the Fudo-do hall from 1:00 PM, and the sacred fire is transferred by ascetic monks (gyoja) to an outdoor platform to offer prayers. Afterward, the monks lead the way across the fire, followed by believers and general visitors who walk across the fire while dedicating wooden prayer sticks (gomagi) inscribed with their wishes into the flames, praying wholeheartedly for the fulfillment of various wishes. It is believed that by walking over this fire, human karma and earthly desires are burned away by the purifying fire of the principal deity Fudo Myoo, and all wishes will come true. This event of boundless blessings is held at Fudogaoka Fudoson Sogan-ji Temple in Kazo City.
