'Taiko Festival in Saitama: 20th East Japan & North Japan Tournament' is a taiko drum festival held in Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture. It will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Clea Konosu Main Hall. This tournament brings together participants from the East Japan area (Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Koshinetsu) and the North Japan area to showcase the results of their daily training. Kumi-daiko (ensemble drumming) can be performed by 3 to 15 members, and odaiko (big drum) can be performed by 1 person. A wide range of participants can take part, with no age limit for players in the General Division, and the Junior Division limited to compositions of junior high school students and younger. At the tournament, only equipment designated by the Nippon Taiko Foundation may be used, and bringing in performance equipment is restricted. Only chanchiki (hand gong), chappa (small cymbals), shinobue (bamboo flute), and suzu (bells) may be held and used by hand. Participants must adhere to regulations such as performance duration and number of performers, and submit an entry sheet along with a performance video. Participation is free. This event aims to promote local culture and deepen exchange through powerful taiko performances.
