About this event
"Peace Festival 2026" is an event aimed at conveying the ideals of the Fujimi City Non-Nuclear Peace City Declaration and the importance of peace to many citizens, as well as learning about peace. This year's theme is "Whose Earth is it? Now is the Time to Think About Peace!" As the main program, it will be held at Tsuruse Civic Center / Tsuruse Community Center on both Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free, and no advance reservation is required. The event will feature a Peace Memorial Gathering, commemorative lectures, and stage performances titled "Peace Stage." The stage presentations are scheduled to include chorus, readings, reports by citizen delegation participants, video screenings of wartime experiences, and performances by local music circles and high school students. In addition, there are extensive exhibits to encourage deep reflection on peace, including atomic bomb photo posters, artworks by citizens and high school students, reproductions of "Atomic Bomb Paintings" collaboratively created by Hiroshima high school students and A-bomb survivors, and bomb fragments dropped on Fujimi City. A corner offering a simulated experience of atomic bomb damage using VR goggles will also be set up. Food and novelty booths will sell udon noodles, bread, drinks, recycled clothing, and sundry goods. On Sunday, September 27, visitors can also enjoy a handcrafted goods exchange plaza, a Peace Word search, interactions with the Fujimi High School Juggling Club, picture-story shows, and origami workshops. As related projects, a Peace Card exhibition by 6th-grade elementary school students in the city was held at community centers from August 1 to August 31. Additionally, an event called "Ring the Peace Bell" was held on August 15 (concluded).
