Funabashi Hawaiian Festival 2026
Japanese name:ふなばしハワイアンフェスティバル2026
📅 Sat, Sep 12, 2026
About this event
Set in Funabashi Port Hydrophilic Park, one of Chiba Prefecture's largest Aloha festivals will be held. Inheriting the Hawaiian culture of the Funabashi Health Center, once celebrated as 'the greatest in the Orient,' this popular festival attracts more than 20,000 people. In 2026, it will be held on Saturday, September 12, with free admission. The hula dance performances against the backdrop of the sea are spectacular, enveloping the entire venue in a Hawaiian mood. In the previous edition in 2025, four stages were set up, featuring about 850 hula dancers from 32 groups and about 100 ukulele players from 9 groups. There were also about 45 stalls selling Hawaiian food and goods, creating a lively atmosphere. In particular, the 'Hula with Everyone' held from 14:50 was a highlight, with about 1,000 performers and spectators dancing together. A 'Music BAR' was also specially set up deep in the waterfront park to enjoy Mele Hula (free dancing to live music). Access to the venue is convenient, about a 5-minute walk from Minami-Funabashi Station on the JR Keiyo Line, but taking the train is recommended as crowds are expected on the day. Bringing a hat and drinks to beat the late summer heat, and taking breaks inside the nearby Lalaport are tips for a comfortable stay. Since outdoor programs may be canceled or changed in rough weather, checking official social media is important. It is recommended to thoroughly enjoy each halau's stage in the morning and feel the venue's excitement toward 'Hula with Everyone' in the afternoon. Programs continue into the evening, and watching hula by the seaside at dusk presents a different atmosphere from daytime. It will serve as an opportunity not only to 'watch' hula, but also to feel like 'starting' it. For families with children hoping for playground equipment or attractions, combining the visit with the Lalaport side is also recommended.
