The 35th Colton Bon Odori

About this event

The "Colton Bon Odori," cherished as an Ichikawa specialty, will be held again in 2026. Reaching its 35th edition this time, an open call for paper fan (uchiwa) designs targeting children of elementary school age and younger is being held prior to the event. The work selected for the Special Award is scheduled to be produced and distributed as the actual paper fan used during the Bon Odori. On the day of the Bon Odori, the design of the paper fans distributed at the venue can be colored by the artwork drawn by children. This event is a seasonal tradition of Ichikawa City from summer to early autumn and is beloved by local residents. The application period for the fan designs runs until July 26, 2026 (Sun), and the announcement of the Special Award is scheduled for late August. The main Bon Odori event will take place over 2 days on September 19 (Sat) and 20 (Sun), 2026. This is an opportunity for children to demonstrate their creativity and become part of livening up the local festival.
