About this event
Ichikawa City is home to some of the most prominent shell mound archaeological sites in Japan, and Soya Shell Mound is one of them, holding significant academic value. At this festival, visitors can enjoy commentary and exhibitions of excavated artifacts from Soya Shell Mound held by the Ichikawa City Archaeology Museum, hands-on Jomon culture activities such as fire-making, introductions and sales of local products, community interaction events, a children's plaza, and presentations by students and pupils from nearby schools. Food trucks are also scheduled to open this year. The Soya Jomon Festival is a local festival that has continued for over 30 years with the aim of broadly sharing the historical importance and appeal of the nationally designated historic site 'Soya Shell Mound' and passing it on to future generations. A diverse lineup of events will be held across venues such as Jomon Village, the Open-Air Stage, and the Excitement Plaza.
