With a long history, the 'Naritasan Mitama Festival Bon Dance Festival' is an event where many citizens from children to adults participate dressed in yukata, allowing visitors to feel the nostalgic atmosphere of a Japanese summer. At the venue, circles of dancers expand around the yagura tower to music associated with Narita. On the first day, you can enjoy dancing to the powerful performance of Narita Fudo Taiko, and on the second day, to the lighthearted performance of the Narita Civic Light Music Ensemble. Airline staff, their families and friends, as well as visiting foreign tourists participate, making it a bustling venue for cultural exchange unique to the international city of Narita. Walk-in participation is warmly welcomed, and Narita City's tourism character Unari-kun will also make an appearance to liven up the venue. During break times, sweets are handed out to children and paper fans (uchiwa) are distributed, allowing everyone to enjoy the summer evening in their own way. A memorial service for the war dead, newly departed souls (niibon), and ancestral spirits will be conducted from 18:30, after which the Bon dance begins. In case of rain, it will be postponed to the following day.
