Mukojima-Hyakkaen Gardens 2026 Bush Clover Festival
Japanese name:向島百花園 2026年度「萩まつり」
📅 Sat, Sep 19, 2026 - Mon, Oct 12, 2026
About this event
In conjunction with the best viewing season for bush clover (hagi), one of the seven autumn herbs, the "Hagi Festival" will be held at Mukojima-Hyakkaen Gardens. With bush clovers blooming throughout the grounds, visitors can thoroughly enjoy the deepening autumn changes in flora and scenery, starting with the famous "Hagi Tunnel." Please relish the shifting seasonal scenery and the beauty of flowers and plants while enjoying walks, haiku, tea ceremonies, and more. During the period, as part of "Composing on Hagi," you can write haiku or waka poems themed on bush clover on tanzaku paper strips. Also planned are "Wild Plant Watching" to observe wild plants inside the garden guided by a botanical researcher's commentary, and a "Tea Ceremony" featuring tea preparation demonstrations alongside matcha and traditional sweets served by the Mukojima-Hyakkaen Tea Ceremony Club. The tea ceremony costs 1,500 yen per seat and will be held on October 3 and 4. Most activities do not require advance registration, though some programs such as Wild Plant Watching and the Tea Ceremony operate on a first-come, first-served basis on the day.
