About this event
Held as an autumn Bon Odori dance in Sumida, the "Sumiyume Dance Procession" is a day where every participant enjoys dancing in their own way, modeled after Hokusai's painting "Odori Gyoretsu-zu" (Dance Procession). It doesn't have to be neat, synchronized, or uniform; the goal is to create a dance circle that everyone can enjoy in their own style. In addition to familiar ondo dance tunes, folk songs from across Japan will be performed, with programs prepared so that anyone—men and women of all ages, families, couples, and solo participants—can easily join. On the day of the event, performances by diverse artists such as Akko Gorilla, Seiko Ito, and Yoichiro Yanagihara are scheduled. In case of rain, it is also scheduled to be held in the gymnasium of Sumida Municipal Ryogoku Junior High School.
