About this event

A special exhibition held in conjunction with the 2026 NHK Taiga Drama 'Toyotomi Brothers!' commemorating the renewal of the Edo-Tokyo Museum. Depicting the Sengoku (Warring States) period from the perspective of Toyotomi Hidenaga, the exhibition explores Hidenaga's previously overlooked personality and his achievements in supporting his older brother Hideyoshi's unification of Japan through precious historical materials. Artifacts associated with figures such as Oda Nobunaga, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Kuroda Kanbei, Todo Takatora, Sen no Rikyu, and Kodai-in will be on display, delving into Hidenaga's outstanding domestic and diplomatic skills as well as the brothers' strong bond and relationship of trust. The first term runs from September 15 to October 12, and the second term runs from October 14 to November 8. Highlights include Hidenaga's portraits, letters, tea caddies, battle screen paintings, historical documents, items related to his retainers, Noh costumes, exquisite tea ceremony utensils, and sword collections. Actor Taiga Nakano will serve as the audio guide navigator.
