About this event

Nishiogi Cha Sampo (Nishiogi Tea Walk) is an event held around Nishi-Ogikubo Station in Suginami Ward, Tokyo, where participants enjoy tea while strolling through the neighborhood. Begun in 2009 with a focus on the concept of "omotenashi" (hospitality), the event has grown with each edition. Today, more than 40 establishments around Nishi-Ogikubo Station—including galleries, shops, and eateries—participate, attracting approximately 2,000 visitors annually. Among the participating shops, "Cha Sampo Shops" serve complimentary tea crafted with each store's unique touches, allowing guests to taste specialty cold-brewed tea, matcha, herbal teas, and more. Beyond tea service, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of hospitality, including exclusive merchandise sales and complimentary dishes when presenting the event map. Furthermore, hands-on workshops such as making kettle-patterned drawstring pouches with original textiles, mehndi (henna art) experiences, and succulent plant crafting provide enjoyable moments for attendees. Participating shops display a distinctive "kettle mark" outside their storefronts. It is a relaxing two-day event to enjoy at your own pace, whether you follow the map to visit specific spots or freely wander around.
