Ogikubo Music Festival

About this event
The 2026 Ogikubo Music Festival will be held over four days from November 5 (Thu) to November 8 (Sun), as an event fitting for an artistic autumn. Centered around Suginami Public Hall, which boasts some of the finest acoustics in Tokyo, various locations across the town of Ogikubo—including parks, banks, galleries, and cafes—will become performance venues, resonating with the pleasant sounds of classical music. This music festival was born in 2000 from a desire to realize a community-rooted music event in Ogikubo. Initially held twice a year in spring and autumn, classical music was chosen as it matched the presence of Suginami Public Hall and the cultural climate shaped by figures such as music critic Motoo Otaguro. Across nearly 30 venues, music of various scales and formats will be performed, ranging from events enjoyable for infants from age 0 to the "Mirai Yume Charity Concert," where Suginami Ward junior high school students, the brass band of friendship city Minamisoma City, and members of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra perform together. In addition to a diverse range of genres including ensembles, solo piano, and hymns, shopping centers and local community centers will also serve as venues, making it easy to drop by and enjoy music. Organizers are the "Society of Ogikubo, A Town Enjoying Classical Music," and preparations are underway aiming for a music festival that all visitors can enjoy, together with self-planned concerts.
