About this event
Under the slogan 'Making the town of Asagaya bright and fun with jazz,' this community-rooted jazz event has been held in Asagaya, Suginami-ku, Tokyo since 1995. Over two days, jazz colors the streets of Asagaya with their beautiful rows of zelkova trees. This year, special sessions by world-renowned jazz pianist Yosuke Yamashita, along with performances by Mitsuyoshi Azuma & The Swinging Boppers and Masahiko Kitahara are scheduled, offering a special experience where music and the town become one. The event is composed of three areas: 'Public Venues' where you can enjoy professional performances, 'Variety Venues' where you can relish jazz alongside dining and drinks, and 'Street Venues' where you can casually drop by. In particular, Yosuke Yamashita's performance at the Noh theater stage of Asagaya Shinmeigu Shrine offers the unique pleasure of listening to jazz in a purely traditional Japanese setting. In addition, around 35 'Variety Venues' including cafes and restaurants let you enjoy jazz together with local gourmet food. At the mainly outdoor 'Street Venues,' the 'Dixieland Jazz Walk' is popular, enlivening the festival atmosphere with lively jazz rhythms as people stroll through the town. Tickets are based on a one-ticket-per-stage system, priced at 2,000 yen to 3,000 yen in advance and 2,500 yen to 3,500 yen on the day. For 'Jazz for Kids' only, admission is 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for elementary school students and younger.
