About this event

"Edo Yoi Festival" is a community festival held at Nishikasai Elementary School in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo. Why not join the night festival held at Nishikasai Elementary School, the only school district without its own local festival? At the event, an exhibition of drawings created by children under the theme of "Nishi-Kasai" will be held. Drawing paper was distributed in advance to children through elementary schools and international schools in the Nishi-Kasai area, and works freely drawn under themes such as "My Favorite Place in Nishi-Kasai" have been collected and displayed at the venue. Through this, the charms of Nishi-Kasai as felt by each child are shared with the entire community. By having children living in the same area depict the town from their own perspectives, regardless of nationality, culture, or language, the event aims to foster regional affection and identity, making them feel "I am also a member living in Nishi-Kasai." Furthermore, by providing an exhibition where children can view their own and their friends' works together with their families, the event aims to create a place for interaction not only among children, but also between parents and children, as well as local residents. On the day of the event, a "Giant Art Creation" will also be held, where children gathered at the venue work together to complete one large piece of art. This time's theme is "Party ZOO! Let's all create a zoo!☆". Participating children will freely paint colors and draw pictures to complete a single massive artwork. Here, differences in nationality or language spoken do not matter; under the shared goal of completing the same piece, children naturally interact and cooperate, aiming to share a sense of accomplishment and unity that "we made this together." By communicating through drawings and creative activities rather than just words, the event creates opportunities for diverse children to connect naturally. In addition to the art exhibition and giant art creation, summer festival booths collaborated with local organizations and companies will be held concurrently. Fair games that children can easily enjoy will be set up, including "Pokemon Goita" by cooperating companies and target shooting by youth groups and affiliated organizations. "I came because it's a summer festival," "I joined because it looked fun"—beyond that, the goal is to create a scene where people from diverse countries and cultures find themselves having fun together. Admission is free, and anyone can participate.
