47th Hachioji Ginkgo Festival

About this event

The "47th Hachioji Ginkgo Festival" will be held over two days on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22, 2026. This year's festival is themed "Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Koshu Kaido Ginkgo Tree Avenue" with the slogan "Together with the Golden Ginkgo Tree Avenue - Take On New Challenges!". This expresses new hopes toward the next 100 years, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the ginkgo avenue along Koshu Kaido planted in 1926 (Taisho 15). The venues span a wide range centered on the main grounds of Ryonan Park, including public land south of Takao Police Station, south of the Tama Imperial Mausoleum Entrance intersection, Ryonan Icho Kaikan grounds, Smile Street (Tama Imperial Mausoleum approach), Ryonan Park main parking lot, athletic grounds, forest area, annex park, riverside west of Minami Asakawa Bridge, Harajuku Children's Playground, Harajuku Fureai Plaza, Nakago Town Plaza, Nagafusa Civic Center, Minami Asakawa Green Space, Asakawa Civic Center, Hachioji City Central Library, Former Yokoyama Office, Ryonan Junior High School Gymnasium, and iiAS Takao, featuring a variety of events over a wide area. As part of the 100th anniversary project for the Koshu Kaido Ginkgo Tree Avenue, publicity flags will be displayed, commemorative stage events and ceremonies will be held, commemorative goods and "Sekisho (Checkpoint) Orienteering" lottery prizes and guidebooks will be produced, and a stamp rally for children will be conducted. In addition, disaster recovery support booths for the Great East Japan Earthquake and the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake will be set up, selling local specialties and conducting tourism PR. At the festival venue, aiming for a clean event through separated garbage collection, the entire venue will be decorated with "Yellow Handkerchiefs of Happiness". The festival committee headquarters, information desk, first aid, and lottery station will be set up along Approach B. In the Koshu Kaido Parade, marching band performances and a classic car parade will take place. At the Smile Parade venue, stage events including vehicle displays, Japanese taiko drumming, Yosakoi dance, and modern dance can be enjoyed. Regional specialties and local gourmet foods can be tasted at the National and Neighboring Regional Tourism and Local Products Fair and the Furusato Bazaar. Various performances will be presented on the special stage inside the main ground of Ryonan Park, especially the "Koshu Kaido Ginkgo Tree Avenue 100th Anniversary Ceremony" on Sunday the 22nd from 13:00, which will feature a special performance of "Yagibushi" by Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. Furthermore, the Koshu Kaido Ginkgo Tree Avenue 100th Anniversary Mu-chan Stamp Rally (using mobile tools & GPS) will be held from October 1 to November 22, allowing participants to aim for special rewards while visiting many checkpoints and famous trees.
