A special screening commemorating the centenary of the birth of actor Keiji Sada, who captivated audiences across Japan with his handsome features and wide-ranging, versatile acting. From among the many masterpieces that supported the golden age of Japanese cinema during his career of less than 20 years from his silver screen debut to his premature death, 'Times of Joy and Sorrow (Part 1 & Part 2)' will be screened this time. The story begins when newlywed lighthouse keeper Shiro (Keiji Sada) and Kiyoko (Hideko Takamine) are assigned to the Kannonzaki Lighthouse. Filmed in 15 locations across Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Nagasaki in the south, this work richly and emotionally depicts the family of a lighthouse keeper living while moving from place to place across the country, alongside beautiful yet harsh nature. Please experience on the big screen the tumultuous chronicle of a family who lived as lighthouse keepers through the turbulent era from the Shanghai Incident to the post-Pacific War period.
