Set against the backdrop of a historic watermill and traditional house in Osawa no Sato, Mitaka City, the "Osawa no Sato Watermill & Traditional House Festival" will be held. This festival offers a valuable opportunity to experience traditional ways of life. A diverse lineup of activities is prepared, including an exhibition of "Mitaka Osawa Wasabi", an introduction to falconry (Takagari), demonstrations of purple dyeing (murasaki-zome) by craftspeople, a hands-on experience carrying manure buckets (koyashiboke), and indoor traditional games. A quiz rally with a chance to win original merchandise will also be conducted, making it an enjoyable event for families. Admission is free for junior high school students and younger, making it easy to visit. A special public viewing of rice-polishing and flour-milling operations will also take place at the watermill farmstead.
