At the Chofu City Hokubu Community Center, 'Kids Summer Festival 2026: Watch, Listen, Enjoy - Summer Memories at the Community Center' will be held, perfect for making summer vacation memories. Inside the cool, air-conditioned community center, children can experience 'watching, listening, and playing.' Highlights include a powerful kamishibai (paper theater) performance by kamishibai artist Senbei-san, a participatory parent-child magic show using tools made from familiar everyday objects by participants of the Hokubu Community Center workshop, and a handmade Hokubu Community Center Grand Karuta Tournament. In addition, visitors can enjoy a ukulele concert by 'Aloha Awinara,' a group registered with the Hokubu Community Center. A dagashi (traditional Japanese penny candy) shop will also open at the venue, offering the fun of buying sweets. A science craft experience corner useful for summer vacation independent research projects will also be set up. The event targets elementary school students and their guardians, though preschoolers may also participate if accompanied by a guardian. Advance registration is required, with a capacity of 40 participants. Admission is free, but cash is required separately for dagashi purchases.
