Beethoven's monumental "Eroica," looking ahead to the 200th anniversary of his death, and Cherubini's "Requiem," which Beethoven himself is said to have wished to be performed at his funeral. The enthusiasm of the 19th century is now revived in Chofu. Masato Suzuki will conduct, with Bach Collegium Japan performing chorus and orchestra. The program consists of Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55 "Eroica" and Cherubini's Requiem in C minor. Bach Collegium Japan is an ensemble founded by Masaaki Suzuki, aiming for the ideal performance of musical heritage centered on Bach using period instruments together with early music specialists from around the world. With over 100 CD titles receiving high acclaim, the ensemble is actively performing worldwide and leading the music scene not only in Japan but across the world. Masato Suzuki is active in various fields as a conductor, composer, pianist, harpsichordist, and organist, and has guest conducted with numerous orchestras in Japan and abroad. He has also actively engaged in opera, attracting significant attention.
