About this event

Why does the single manga work 'Barefoot Gen' still passionately move us today? This film is a movie adaptation of the BS12 Special 'The Heat Conduction of Barefoot Gen: People Who Pass Down the Atomic Bomb Manga,' which won the Grand Prize in the Video Division at the Media Ambitious Awards and the Best Award in the Program Division (Documentary) at the 15th Satellite Broadcasting Association Original Program Awards. The director is Masanori Komiyama, who has produced numerous masterpiece documentary programs such as 'Haruomoi: The First Seasonal Migrant Work' and 'We Are the Farming Family.' For this film adaptation, Shin Oshima ('Kagawa 1st District,' 'The Day of the State Funeral') and Aki Maeda ('NO ELECTION, NO LIFE'), who deeply respect Director Komiyama, joined as co-producers. Even now, marking '80 years after the war,' warfare continues in Ukraine and the Middle East, and nuclear threats are by no means a thing of the past. The film looks from the birth of the timeless anti-war manga to the present day, reflecting the anger, sorrow, and gentleness overflowing in the world we live in. In Kodaira City, Tokyo, it will be held in the Audio-Visual Room on the 1st floor of Kodaira Municipal Central Community Center as the Kodaira City Women's Gathering Lecture and Peace Study Session. Through the screening and director talk, it will be an opportunity to deepen understanding of the work's message and questions regarding peace in modern society.
