About this event

Although close to the city center, Kiyose City retains a rich natural "satoyama" (countryside foothill) environment where a wide variety of insects live. This special exhibition introduces the insects of Kiyose and their habitats using insect specimens donated to the museum and precious insect photographs taken by the Society for Protecting Kiyose's Nature. The exhibition is structured around four themes: "Kiyose's Satoyama," "Kiyose's Mixed Woodlands," "Kiyose's Waterside Environments," and "The Society for Protecting Kiyose's Nature," allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse insect world inhabiting Kiyose City. At the venue, the "Kiyose Insect List," featuring photos of everything from common insects to extremely rare species, will also be on sale. In addition, related programs such as "Gallery Talks" (guided exhibition commentary by experts) and an insect-watching event called "Let's Find Autumn Insects!" at Kanayama Ryokuchi Park will be held.
