Tama Children's Food Stall Championship 2026

About this event

"Tama Children's Food Stall Championship 2026" is a hands-on event held in Tama City, Tokyo, where elementary school students learn how business works and plan and run food stalls at an actual festival. Set against the traditional "Ochiai Summer Festival Bon Odori Dance," teams of 4th to 6th graders handle everything from product planning, income and expenditure calculations, and marketing to stall decoration, customer service, and sales. The children think about "how to make sales" and bring excitement to Parthenon Boulevard, a symbol of Tama Center, through their own ideas and ingenuity. Supported by mentors from the Tama Junior Chamber, they gain valuable experience practicing the 5 steps of business and participating in the festival as community members. The awards ceremony, which evaluates not only sales but also teamwork and creativity, is held atop the yagura stage at the Bon Odori venue. The profits earned by the children can be used at the concurrent food and drink event, helping create special memories with their families. This event provides an opportunity for children to realize that they can make their community more fun and better through their own efforts.
