This is a gallery talk by curators related to the special exhibition 'When the Museum Was Founded: Kushiro 90 Years Ago,' commemorating the 90th anniversary of the founding of Kushiro City Museum. Curators will explain in detail what Kushiro was like 90 years ago when the museum was established, the historical background of the museum's founding, and the collection gathered by the first director, Shinsuke Kataoka. The commentary will be held over 2 days, and because different curators will be in charge, the featured content will vary by day. On Saturday, August 29, the focus will be on archaeological materials and plant specimens, and on Sunday, August 30, the explanation will focus on Ainu culture, insect specimens, and taxidermy specimens of mammals and birds. This provides a great opportunity to deeply learn about the history of Kushiro 90 years ago, the origins of the museum, and its valuable collection.
