About this event

The Hadano Tobacco Festival is the city's largest tourism event, carrying on the passion for leaf tobacco cultivation that laid the foundation for the city's development. In 2026, it is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27. Centered around traditional events themed on 'Fire', the finale fireworks display offers an overwhelming sense of presence with reverberating sound created by the basin's unique topography. The 'Niagara' set-piece fireworks spanning approximately 520 meters along the Mizunashi River dry riverbed create a fantastical, magnificent view as curtains of light reflect onto the river surface. In the 'Tobacco Ondo Parade' for elementary and junior high school students, participants will receive original happi coats as gifts. The main festival venues cover a wide area from around Odakyu Line Hadano Station to City Hall and around Honcho Elementary School. The festival is characterized by a long-lasting schedule of entertainment from daytime parades to nighttime fireworks.
