55th Ashigara Yose 'Shunputei Shohsuke'

At the 55th Ashigara Yose held at the Minamiashigara City Cultural Center (nickname: Kintaro Mirai Hall), rakugo storyteller Shunputei Shohsuke will make an appearance. The theme for this event is 'Kaidan Rakugo' (ghost story rakugo). Hailing from Saitama Prefecture, Shunputei Shohsuke is a young rakugo storyteller who attracts attention with his unconventional, brisk new-style rakugo (shinsaku rakugo), leveraging his shy character to the extent of describing himself as a 'negative thinker with a deviance value of 50.' He also showcases approachable charm beyond the stage as a personality for the audio streaming program 'Sakuraji Gakuya.' After becoming an apprentice to Takigawa Kocho in 2015 and serving as an opening act (zenza) under the name 'Amagukoi', he was promoted to the second-highest rank (futatsume) in September 2019 and took the name 'Shunputei Shohsuke.' His usual lively stage performance, making the most of his unique personality, will lead the audience into a bizarre world tonight. His entrance music (debayashi) is 'Dekansho Bushi.' His hobbies are Western movies, soccer, and heavy metal.
