The 54th National Firefighting Rescue Techniques Competition

About this event

The 54th National Firefighting Rescue Techniques Competition will be held in Niigata City, gathering elite rescue team members selected from fire departments across Japan to compete in rescue techniques. The purpose of this competition is to hone the skills required to advance rescue operations and strongly respond to the public's expectations for firefighting services. In addition to setting up interactive disaster prevention awareness booths, the event will also feature merchandise and food/beverage stalls showcasing the charms of Niigata City (Niigata Prefecture)—hosting this event on the Sea of Japan side of Honshu for the first time—aiming to create an enjoyable experience for many visitors. The land division will feature drills such as ladder climbing, rope bridge traversing, applied rope climbing, crawling rescue, rope bridge rescue, hoisting rescue, and obstacle clearing. The water division will conduct drills such as drowning person transport, lifesaving, drowning person rescue, underwater knot tying, and underwater search. Disaster prevention experience booths will include firefighting vehicle displays, disaster simulations using AR/VR, initial firefighting training, and try-on sessions for children's firefighter and rescue suits.
