Held throughout the Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, the 'Echizen Asakura Sengoku Festival 2026' is a summer tradition that recreates a Sengoku-period castle town. The Echizen Asakura Sengoku Warrior Procession, featuring publicly recruited participants in armor and ashigaru foot soldier roles marching through Ichijodani, presents a spectacle that feels like traveling back in time to the Sengoku period. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of stage events, including brass band performances by local students, mini live music shows, saxophone performances, matchlock gun shooting demonstrations, kids' dance shows, and song shows. At 'Echizen Asakura Mantoya,' one of the festival's highlights, over 15,000 candles enchantingly illuminate the Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins, while fireworks bloom across the night sky. Surrounded by historical scenery, visitors can experience the Sengoku-era atmosphere firsthand and fully enjoy the festival's charms from day to night. With special programs including an opportunity for elementary school students to participate in the warrior procession and an activity to display candles inscribed with wishes, the event is enjoyable for families as well.
