About this event
Hataorimachi Festival 2026 is an autumn festival in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, celebrating its 11th year. In this town where a textile culture nurtured by the spring waters of Mt. Fuji has thrived for over a thousand years, the festival takes place against the backdrop of historic streetscapes that retain nostalgic charm. As a unique production area that handles diverse types of textiles, numerous factory brands have emerged in recent years. Visitors can enjoy the town's distinct ambiance, including buildings preserving the look of old-time weaving houses and back-alley drinking districts where weavers likely gathered for drinks. This year's festival aims to incorporate new changes while cherishing the long-held perspectives of the town. By inviting new vendors and preparing new venues, the festival is planned to blend past strengths with fresh elements. The main visual is designed by graphic designer Daijiro Ohara, featuring monkeys transformed into various depictions of Mt. Fuji—such as Spool Fuji, Weaving Fuji, Spinning Top Fuji, Beard Fuji, and Twin Fuji—making them delightful to spot. These monkeys may also appear at the venue. Details will be announced sequentially on the official website and social media. Serving as an opportunity for many people to discover Fujiyoshida's town and textile culture, the town's scenery has gradually evolved with increasing visitors and the revitalized use of vacant shops. The organizers look forward to welcoming everyone to Hataorimachi at this year's festival.
