About this event

Held annually on September 18 and 19 at Keishin-in as an annual event of Kuon-ji Temple on Mount Minobu, the "Shichimen-san Grand Festival" is an important festival dedicated to Shichimen Daimyojin. This festival originates from the legend that Shichimen Daimyojin, who resides on Mount Shichimen, protects the rear demon gate (Urakimon) of Mount Minobu, protects Lotus Sutra believers for generations, relieves suffering, and grants peace of mind and satisfaction. During the festival, prayers and blessings are performed before the altar of Shichimen Daimyojin, bustling with many worshippers. It is also said that Mount Shichimen got its name because it is home to a deity of seven wonders with gates in eight directions that close the demon gate, ward off seven misfortunes, and bestow seven blessings. This festival offers a precious opportunity to feel the deep connection between Mount Minobu and Shichimen Daimyojin, as well as touch ancient faith and history.
