About this event
Held at Minobusan Kuonji Temple in Minobu Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, the "Founder's Robe Changing Ceremony" is an important memorial service to honor the virtues of the sect's founder, Nichiren Daishonin, and renew his robes. This ritual is conducted on a designated date every year at Kuonji, the head temple of the Nichiren sect. Performed at the Soshido (Founder's Hall), it expresses reverence and gratitude toward the founder. On this occasion, you can visit Minobusan Kuonji, the historical and spiritual center of Nichiren Buddhism, and experience a service conducted in a solemn atmosphere. Minobusan Kuonji is a historic site where Nichiren Shonin spent his later years and wrote many of his remaining writings, with his spirit living on to this day. This ceremony will be a valuable experience not only for followers of the Nichiren sect, but also for those interested in Buddhism and history.
