Beauty Connected to the Future: Preservation and Restoration of Artworks

This special exhibition examines the collection of the Sunritz Hattori Museum of Art through the themes of restoration and preservation. It showcases valuable cultural properties, including the National Treasure "Picture of Hanshan" by Kao and the Important Cultural Property "Figure of Kujaku Myo-o (Mahamayuri)," which completed restoration in or after 2021. By unpacking how alterations were made and the environments in which they have been protected, visitors can gain a deep understanding of the history and value of these works. Through this exhibition, visitors can learn about the importance of preserving and repairing cultural properties as well as initiatives to pass them down to the future.
