In this place visited by many literary figures and calligraphers/painters including the Haiku Master Basho, you can enjoy long autumn nights through haiku. At the competition, awards and reviews will be conducted for submitted poems and poems written on the day. In addition, a lecture and talk show titled "Let's Enjoy: An Interesting Collaboration of Haiku and Music" by radio personality Mr. Toru Takeda will also be held. Attendance only is free of charge, but participants submitting poems on the day are charged 1,000 yen including drinks. This competition is a precious opportunity to thoroughly enjoy the charm of haiku while admiring the beautiful terraced rice fields and moon of Obasute.
