About this event
Held annually in Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, the "Kani Summer Festival" is a summer event representing the region. Drawing particular attention are the "fountain fireworks" that mark the finale of the festival. Unlike aerial fireworks, they feature a rare style that surges vigorously from near the ground, brilliantly illuminating the night sky with colorful lights. In 2026, it is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 5, and the fountain fireworks will take place from 20:20 to 20:40 on the Kani Riverbed north of Kani City Hall. In case of bad weather, it will be postponed to the following day, Sunday the 6th. The west area of Furusato River Park is recommended as an easy-to-view spot for watching. At the festival, Bon Odori, Japanese drum performances, Tahitian dance, and diverse stage performances are also held, bringing together local residents and visitors in excitement. The fountain fireworks offer an immersive experience united with the fever of the festival, presenting a spectacular sight with a wall of light appearing before your eyes, booming sound resonating in your stomach, and cascading sparks. It is a luxurious moment symbolizing summer in Kani that directly delivers a dynamic emotional impact not found in large-scale events.
