About this event

Held at Kinomiya Shrine in Atami in conjunction with the Harvest Moon, the 'Mid-Autumn Moon Viewing Festival and Concert' features a moon-viewing festival to admire the moon considered the most beautiful of the year, alongside a concert on the shrine grounds to enjoy the melodies of gagaku court music. Following the Shinto ritual in the main hall, instrumental gagaku performances and bugaku dances will be offered at the Kaguraden (sacred dance stage) completed in 2024. Under the harvest moon and starry sky, the sounds of autumn insects and gagaku melodies echoing through the illuminated, magical shrine grounds create a special time to leisurely savor traditional performing arts and the beautiful moon on a long autumn night. It is within walking distance from JR Kinomiya Station, and the sacred Great Camphor Tree (Okusu), over 2,100 years old, is also known as a spiritual power spot.
