About this event
Held every year on August 28 at Kasuisai in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture, the "Kasuisai Okunoin Fudouson Grand Festival" features a grand prayer ritual dedicated to Okunoin Fudo Myo-o as its main event, alongside a variety of festivities including a dedicatory fireworks display, a Mando Lantern Memorial Service, handheld tube fireworks (Tezutsu Hanabi), and a summer evening festival (night stalls). In particular, the powerful upward-blasting handheld tube fireworks captivate onlookers. Dedicatory floating lanterns on the Hojo Pond create a magical atmosphere. On the day, in addition to the fireworks display, the Okunoin Fudouson Grand Prayer Service, ceremonial fireworks, and summer night stalls will be held, allowing visitors to enjoy the summer night with fireworks coloring the sky. Admission is free, but the fee for dedicating a floating lantern is 1,500 yen each. Access to the venue is available by bus from JR Fukuroi Station or by car from the Tomei Expressway Fukuroi IC.
