Fun for Adults and Children! Nostalgic Anime Film Screening

Two masterpiece works renowned throughout Japanese animation history will be screened on rare 35mm film. Visitors can enjoy the unique charm unattainable with CG or digital video, such as the warm gradations of light and shadow, the grainy screen texture, and the distinctive colors projected by the projector's lamp that are unique to cel animation. The featured works are the 1969 masterpiece "Puss 'n Boots" (Nagagutsu o Haita Neko), which received great acclaim at the "Toei Manga Matsuri," and the 1985 monument of Japanese animation "Night on the Galactic Railroad" (Ginga Tetsudo no Yoru), which won multiple film awards upon its release. Audiences can experience Kenji Miyazawa's timeless masterpiece, a fantastical story depicting anthropomorphic cats as the main characters, through the warm visuals of 35mm film. This screening is held as part of the "Fiscal 2026 Excellent Film Appreciation Promotion Project."
