47th Osu Street Performers Festival

About this event

This is a street performance festival held in Nagoya's Osu Shopping Street, where you can see street performers active across the country gathered in one place. Visitors can enjoy acrobatics, magic, traditional performing arts, and more. The festival's highlight, the famous Osu "Oiran Dochu" (courtesan procession), is also very popular every year; watching women dressed in gorgeous costumes parade through the shopping street in high wooden clogs moving in a figure-eight step, accompanied by umbrella bearers, male attendants, apprentice courtesans (kamuro), and junior courtesans (shinzo), is a must-see. Osu Shopping Street is lined with shops of all kinds, from electronics stores to secondhand clothing shops and gourmet spots, and is always bustling and full of energy.
