About this event
With the beach volleyball competition of the Asian Games taking place at the Hekinan Ryokuchi Beach Courts in September 2026, this exhibition looks back on the history of sports in Hekinan City through photographs from the municipal collection. From the development of post-war sports facilities and the promotion of competitive sports centered on rhythmic gymnastics, to the spread of lifelong recreational sports and recent developments in beach sports, the exhibition introduces the relationship between citizens and sports as well as changes in local sports culture using photos from "Koho Hekinan" from the Showa 30s through the Heisei period. Gallery talks by curatorial staff will also be held.
