📅 Sat, Jul 18, 2026 - Wed, Sep 23, 2026
About this event
Known as an American national painter who depicted landscapes and people with realism harboring deep spirituality, Andrew Wyeth (1917–2009). In this large-scale exhibition—the first in Japan in 17 years—Wyeth's world of art is introduced while shining a light on expressions hinting at boundaries such as windows and doors that appear frequently in his works. The number of exhibited items reaches approximately 100 pieces. Representative works painted by Andrew Wyeth, such as Christina Olson, Self-Portrait, The Mill, End of the Olsons, The Boarding Party, Starfish, and Thin Ice, will be displayed. These works have been gathered from various collections including the Myron Kunin Collection, the National Academy of Design, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Philbrook Museum of Art, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. The exhibition will be held at Toyota Municipal Museum of Art from Saturday, July 18, 2026, to Wednesday (national holiday), September 23, 2026. Opening hours are 10:00 to 17:30 (last admission at 17:00). Closed on Mondays, but open on July 20 and September 21. Same-day admission fees are 1,900 yen for general adults, 1,200 yen for high school and university students, and free for junior high school students and under. Discounted rates apply for advance tickets and online tickets. In addition, visitors can also view the museum's permanent collection exhibition and the Takahashi Setsuro Gallery exhibition in conjunction with this exhibition.
