Tokoname Ware Festival
Japanese name:常滑焼まつり
📅 Sat, Oct 3, 2026 - Sun, Oct 4, 2026
About this event
The 2026 Tokoname Ware Festival will be held over two days on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4. It will take place across three venues: the Boat Race Tokoname Venue, the Pottery Footpath Venue, and the Cera Mall Venue. At the Boat Race Tokoname Venue, the traditional 'Big Pottery Bargain Market' and 'Tokoname Artisan Booths' will be featured, allowing visitors to compare many pieces of Tokoname ware in one place. Seminars themed around 'Learning, Using, and Enjoying Tokoname Ware' as well as a food lounge will also be held. At the Pottery Footpath Venue, visitors can stroll through the nostalgic streets of Tokoname, where the atmosphere of traditional kilns remains, and visit workshops, galleries, and shops. Sights characteristic of a pottery town, such as Dokanzaka (clay pipe hill) and brick chimneys, can also be enjoyed. The Cera Mall Venue is a shopping mall packed with specialty shops offering pottery and general goods, recommended for those who want to take their time searching for tableware. An 'Outdoor Tea Gathering' will also be held at the Cera Mall Venue, featuring demonstrations on brewing tea outdoors using kyusu teapots. On the first day, Saturday, October 3, from 18:00, the 'Tokoname Citizens Fireworks Festival' will be held, with paid viewing seats prepared at the Boat Race Tokoname Venue. The festival runs from 9:00 to 20:00 on October 3, and from 9:00 to 16:00 on October 4. Because areas around the venue and the nearest station may become crowded in the evening and onward on the day of the fireworks festival, planning ahead is important.
