Gon Autumn Festival in Gongen-yama
Japanese name:ごんの秋まつりINごんげん山
📅 Fri, Oct 2, 2026 - Sun, Oct 4, 2026
About this event
Along the Yakachi River, the setting for Nankichi Niimi's masterpiece "Gon, the Little Fox" (Gon Gitsune), 3 million red spider lilies have been planted by local residents to recreate that world. Mount Gongen is the mountain where Gon is said to have lived, and the red spider lilies blooming along the Yakachi River can be viewed from the summit. At Ue Park in Agui Town, an event offering brass band, koto, and ukulele performances, dances, yosakoi, magic stages, red spider lily bulb sales, and food and drinks from kitchen cars (food trucks) will be held. On the night of Saturday the 2nd, the theatrical animated film "Gon" will be screened, making for a special movie screening viewed at Gon's hometown of "Mount Gongen."
