German Festival 2026

About this event

A once-a-year, three-day event to further deepen the connection between the Handa Red Brick Building and Germany! At German Festival 2026, you can enjoy German food culture, music, and hands-on activities. Food and beverage offerings are scheduled to include German sausages, ham, German bread, baumkuchen, German beer and wine, Nutty Bavarian caramelized nuts, and HARIBO gummy candies. The sales, workshops, and hands-on activities will feature German board game experiences by wooden toy shop Quartet, PUKY wiggle races, learning-bike test rides, accordion trials, sales of German miscellaneous goods, and a decoupage workshop using German paper napkins. On the music stage, performances are scheduled by the Alps Music Band, Sakakibara Trio, Yuko Kamata, and the Handa Red Brick Male Choir. Stage events will feature the "Beer Mug Lift-Up Challenge" arm strength competition and the "German Music Quiz" hosted by Mr. Oliver Mayer. German culture seminars will offer lectures on German trams, German language lessons, a presentation by Nanzan University's "German EU Economy Study Group," and talks on German industrial heritage. The special exhibition room will host the "What Our Predecessors Left Behind: Kurt Masur" exhibition, a German travel photo exhibition, and a German tram photo exhibition.
